On the HWM845, an On knob with a dark power light points first to the external power path. Honeywell says to confirm the unit is plugged in and the outlet/circuit has power before doing anything inside the humidifier.
Visible steam is not immediate on the HWM845. Honeywell says the green light can be on while the boiling chamber heats, and visible steam normally takes about 3–4 minutes to appear.
After the normal 3–4 minute warm-up, Honeywell narrows weak or missing HWM845 steam to tank water, level placement, or mineral deposits on the Heating Element/Water Tray. Scale cleaning is the key model-specific branch.
The HWM845 has a specific refill reset that is different from other warm-mist models: turn power Off, refill and replace the tank, wait 5 minutes, then turn power On. If the light remains on after that exact sequence, Honeywell says to clean scale from the Heating Element.
Honeywell gives three owner-level causes for HWM845 reservoir overflow: a damaged tank, a Tank Cap that is not tight, or a Water Tray that is not seated correctly. Dry the unit and check those paths before assuming an internal leak.
Condensation around an HWM845 usually means the warm-mist output is too high for the room size or the humidity already present. Honeywell says to lower or turn off output and open the room door if the space is becoming saturated.
